The Drain Bros. aggregate quarry located near Havelock, Ontario quarries an aggregate deposit known as “basalt. More commonly referred to as “trap rock,” this very hard, durable material which makes it valuable in a variety of applications.
Our Havelock site quarries basalt for use in rail ballast (which is the crushed rock poured between railroad ties to complete the bed on which trains run on), rock wool insulation, as well as concrete mixes.
The particularly strong stone we quarry is also used in high-quality asphalt mixes for use on airport runways. As well as high-traffic volume highways such as the 400 series in Ontario.
